Hello! My name is Maria Staman and I am thrilled to be joining St. John the Beloved this year as the Technology teacher. Teaching is my second career and I hold a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a Master’s of Art in Elementary Education, with a dual state license in both Elementary Education (K-6th) and Early Childhood Education (birth-2nd). I most recently taught 3rd and 4th grades at Christ the Teacher, but have taught everything from PreK to 6th grade. I am so excited to be moving into a Specialist position and cannot wait to work with the students on all things technology! During Covid, I found a passion in learning everything I could about technology in a classroom (and online) and this position has been a dream of mine. My goals this year are to get 3rd-6th grades proficient in keyboarding as well as introducing them to and learning the Google platform and products. In PreK-2nd grades we will focus on using chromebooks, keyboards, the mouse, apps, just to name a few items. I will also be introducing STEM activities later in the year.
During my free time I love to travel, read, run, and workout. I have been married to my college sweetheart for almost 30 years and we have 3 amazing children (2 recent college graduates, and a college sophomore). I attended Catholic School for 12 years, graduating from Bishop Shanahan in Chester County, PA. I absolutely love working in the Diocese of Wilmington and am so happy to be joining the staff of SJB. I look forward to meeting you and your children this fall.
